Cookies on this site
Cookies and how they benefit you
This site uses cookies, as almost every website does. Cookies are small text files a site asks your browser to keep on your computer or phone. Some sites, this one included, also store a little information in your browser without using a cookie at all — this page covers both.
Busy Bees only use what genuinely helps the site and the service behind it. Anything that is not needed to make the site work is optional, stays off until you say otherwise, and can be switched back off at any time.
What we use them for
- Making the site work the way you expect
- Remembering your cookie choice, so we do not keep asking
- Keeping the site, and the staff admin area, secure
- Playing a video when you ask to see one
- Understanding how the site is used so we can improve it — only if you accept analytics
What we never use them for
- Collecting information that identifies you, without your permission
- Collecting sensitive information about you
- Passing data to advertising networks
- Passing personal information to other companies
- Following you around other websites
- Paying sales commission
The cookies used on this site
Below is everything this site can store in your browser. It is the full list rather than an example, in three groups: what has to be there, what appears only if you accept analytics, and what appears only if you play a video.
Strictly necessary
These keep the site working and secure. They cannot be turned off, and none of them is used to build a picture of you.
| Name | Type | Set by | What it is for | Expires |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| bb-cookie-consent | Local storage | This site | Remembers whether you accepted or declined analytics, so we do not ask again on every page and so “no thanks” actually sticks. | Until you clear your browser storage |
| bb-cookie-consent-dismissed | Session storage | This site | Remembers that you closed the cookie box without answering, so it stops asking for the rest of this visit. It grants nothing. | When you close the tab |
| bb-age-confirmed | Session storage | This site | Remembers that you confirmed you are 16 or over, so the register-interest form does not ask twice in one visit. Deliberately not remembered longer: the next person to use a shared computer is asked again. | When you close the tab |
| bb_site_gate | Cookie | This site | Set only while the site is password-protected before launch, and only once you have entered the password, so you are not asked again on every page. | When you close your browser |
| authjs.session-token | Cookie | This site | Keeps a member of Busy Bees staff signed in to the admin area. Never set for a visitor to the public site. Carries a __Secure- prefix over HTTPS. | 30 days, or when the account signs out |
| __Host-authjs.csrf-token | Cookie | This site | Protects the staff sign-in form against forged requests. Set on admin pages only. | When you close your browser |
| __Secure-authjs.callback-url | Cookie | This site | Returns a member of staff to the admin page they were heading for after signing in. | When you close your browser |
Analytics — only if you accept
Nothing here loads unless you choose “Accept all”. Decline, or close the box without answering, and your browser makes no request to Google at all.
| Name | Type | Set by | What it is for | Expires |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| _ga, _ga_… and similar | Cookie | We use Google Tag Manager to load our measurement tags. Those tags count visits and pages viewed so we can see which parts of the site people use. They are set by Google, not by us, and only after you have accepted. | Up to 2 years |
Video — only if you play one
Our apprentice video is hosted by Wistia and is not loaded until you press play. If you never play it, nothing here is set.
| Name | Type | Set by | What it is for | Expires |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Wistia player storage | Cookie | Wistia | Remembers things like where you were up to and your volume, and counts how many times the video is played. Set by Wistia when the player loads. | Set and managed by Wistia |
Changing your mind
Your choice is saved in your browser, and the cookie button at the bottom left of every page reopens it whenever you want. Switching to “Necessary only” after accepting reloads the page, so anything optional stops there and then rather than carrying on until you leave.
You can also block or delete cookies in your browser’s own settings. Be aware that blocking the strictly necessary ones will stop parts of this site working properly — the register-interest form in particular.
